General interview questions you can assess a candidate's skills and qualifications:

  • Can you tell us about your previous experience and how it relates to this position?
  • Can you walk us through a particularly challenging problem you solved in your previous role?
  • Can you give an example of a time when you had to work with a difficult coworker or manager? How did you handle the situation?
  • Can you explain a project you’ve led and what you learned from it?
  • Can you tell us about a situation where you had to make a difficult decision? How did you go about making that decision?
  • Can you describe a time when you had to work on a tight deadline? How did you handle the pressure?

These questions can help you gain a better understanding of a candidate's previous experience, problem-solving skills, teamwork abilities, adaptability, and time-management skills. It's also important to listen actively during the interview, ask follow-up questions, and pay attention to nonverbal cues to get a well-rounded view of the candidate.
