Purpose of position: The Accountant supports the Finance Department by managing Accounts Payable, maintaining accounting records, preparing financial reports, processing Sales and Use Tax filings, and assisting with month-end close activities. This role is also responsible for inventory costing, account reconciliations, and supporting a variety of accounting functions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation).
- Receive, coordinate approval, enter and reconcile Accounts Payable transactions within the accounting system.
- Enter and reconcile sales transactions and related accounting records.
- Prepares accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Suggest scalable approaches to reducing costs, streamlining processes, and improving margins.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Assist the Controller with project and order closeouts, inventory costing, and cost-of-sales analysis.
- Research and resolve inventory accounting discrepancies in coordination with cross-functional departments.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation in accordance with company policies and accepted accounting practices.
- Provide backup support for Accounting Department functions as needed.
- Assist with departmental administrative duties and special projects.
- Maintain confidentiality of all internal information
- Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner
- Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy
- Works overtime as required
- Observes and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (e.g. Safety-glasses, ear plugs, face shields etc.)

Skills, knowledge and abilities: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job).
- Must be able to effectively read, write and communicate in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and GAAP.
- Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and meeting deadlines.

Work Conditions:
Generally works in an office environment. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, and loud noise.
Experience and Education Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older and a minimum of three (3) years of accounting, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) experience is required.
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting is required.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, with advanced level in Excel skills required
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
