Bookkeeper

Job Purpose:

Our client is seeking a finance professional to manage core accounting functions, ensure accurate financial record-keeping and reporting, maintain compliance with statutory requirements, and provide timely financial information and analysis to support business decision-making. The role combines hands-on transactional processing with higher-level financial reporting, audit support, and analysis using Sage accounting software.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate sound knowledge and proficiency in Sage accounting software for all financial processing and reporting
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Maintain the fixed assets register
  • Assist with the administration of the financial portfolio
  • Perform transactional processing for debtors and cash book
  • Complete bank reconciliations
  • Process financial journals
  • Prepare cost and expense analysis reports
  • Conduct final trial balance reviews
  • Prepare monthly management accounts
  • Prepare annual financial statements
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and related supporting schedules
  • Prepare cash flow reports (daily, weekly, and forecast)
  • Assist with Directors’ queries
  • Analyse expenses and provide insights
  • Run sales reports and perform accuracy checks
  • Assist with WIP, GRN accruals, non-stock WIP, and reconciliation of outstanding items
  • Manage audit processes, including liaison with auditors and submission of required documentation
  • Prepare commission calculations and reports

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant accounting qualification- Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping Certificate, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Sage accounting software (essential)
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ relevant experience in a similar accounting role
  • Strong understanding of VAT, management accounting, and preparation of annual financial statements
  • Experience with audits, reconciliations, accruals (including GRN and WIP), and cash flow forecasting.
