The role supervises a team of 10 plant/stockpile controllers and acts as plant controller for any vacant roles. The incumbent coordinates the annual budget cycle and monthly reporting requirements, reviews and analyzes manufacturing costs across the facilities, reviews and approves balance sheet reconciliations, and ensures the plants follow corporate directives and control procedures. Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee 10 controllers to ensure accurate, timely month-end close and account reconciliation prep. Perform/review analytical month-end reporting and narrative for management. Understand composition of monthly site variances for results meetings. Full balance sheet/income statement responsibility for 4 sites/businesses. Review all plant account reconciliations for the business segment, ensuring balances are properly explained and supported in compliance with SOX. Serve as business partner to the segment President — provide cost information, flag unusual site activity, and prepare financial analysis as requested. Seek ways to improve financial reporting over site costs and strengthen controls over site financial processes. Gain a working understanding of SAP (plus other accounting systems in use across sites) to validate information from controllers and fill in during vacancies, leaves, or vacations — including reports, queries, journal entries, and capital expenditures. Understand the capital/fixed asset module to support controllers and ensure timely closeout of capital projects so depreciation commences correctly. Manage the annual budget cycle across all locations, including oversight of manufacturing cost budgets, coordination with operations and supply chain, and deadline management with plant controllers. Provide general oversight of annual physical inventory counts and surveys — reconciliation, posting, and proper cutoff procedures. Support inventory transaction accuracy and perpetual/ledger reconciliations. Prepare monthly freight variance calculations for internally sourced inventory, requiring understanding of FIFO costing layers. Provide oversight and guidance to plant controllers on purchasing/AP issues, fixed assets, expense and capital projects, and local regulatory matters. Assist with internal/external audits. Manage and develop plant controllers: lead recruiting, cover vacancies, drive training/development, succession planning, and performance feedback. Partner with controllers and operations teams to identify cost and efficiency savings. Understand product cost drivers; ensure accuracy of annual cost roll-ups; propose and design cost models. Prepare ad-hoc cost analysis, report special project results with conclusions and recommendations, and update impacted reporting as needed. Identify unusual transactions and coordinate proper accounting treatment with the corporate accounting team. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field preferred. 8-10 years of business experience with a minimum of 5 years of managerial controllership experience in roles of increasing responsibility. Proven leadership and coaching skills. Mining, minerals, or heavy manufacturing industry experience preferred. SAP experience strongly preferred, or ability to quickly learn systems. Strong communication, organizational, team building, and people skills. Effective time management and problem-solving ability. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and challenge current processes while offering solutions. Detail-oriented with willingness to dig into processes and results. Exceptional Excel knowledge. Interested in hearing more? Easy Apply now by clicking the "Quick Apply" button. Jobot is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
