Job Details We are seeking an experienced Director of Financial Accounting to lead and enhance our financial accounting operations. This role will oversee critical accounting functions, drive accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and provide strategic leadership to the accounting organization. The Director of Financial Accounting will play a key role in ensuring financial integrity across the organization by managing close processes, guiding technical accounting decisions, maintaining compliance standards, and partnering with business leaders to support strategic initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting Oversee financial accounting operations, including insurance-related accounting activities such as reserves, reinsurance, and catastrophe-related transactions Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and governance standards aligned with GAAP and regulatory requirements Provide technical accounting guidance and evaluate complex transactions to ensure proper accounting treatment Maintain strong internal controls and support SOX compliance initiatives Partner with internal stakeholders across finance and operations to improve processes and reporting capabilities Manage relationships with internal and external auditors Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and system enhancements Lead, mentor, and develop accounting professionals while building a high-performing team culture Ensure accounting operations support accurate, reliable, and scalable financial reporting Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA strongly preferred 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience 5 years of experience in P&C insurance or regulated financial services 5 years of leadership and people management experience Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls Experience with insurance accounting, reserves, and reinsurance preferred Proven ability to analyze complex accounting matters and provide sound judgment Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills Interested in hearing more?
