A leading financial services group is seeking a technically strong and commercially astute Financial Manager to take ownership of the accounting and financial control function within one of its key business units.

Duties & Responsibilities

This role is suited to a qualified finance professional who thrives in a regulated, fast-paced environment and can balance strong technical reporting with operational oversight and team leadership.

You will be responsible for managing the full accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, strong internal controls, and effective stakeholder engagement.
The role requires a hands-on leader who can operate both strategically and operationally -reviewing financials in detail while guiding and developing a finance team.

Duties:

Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
Review financial statements for full IFRS compliance
Ensure regulatory compliance with relevant financial services authorities
Manage daily cash flow and capital forecasting processes
Lead budgeting and financial planning cycles
Review month-end files, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
Oversee journal entries and balance sheet integrity
Prepare and review statutory returns
Interpret financial results and provide actionable insights
Manage the external audit process and ensure audit readiness
Strengthen internal controls and governance frameworks
Ensure compliance with Companies Act, IFRS, tax, VAT, and insurance regulations
Maintain strong documentation standards aligned to regulatory requirements
Manage and develop a finance team
Set performance objectives and drive accountability
Engage internal and external stakeholders up to management level
Support business decision-making through financial insight

Job Experience & Skills Required:

Qualifications:

Matric (Grade 12)
BCom Accounting
BCom Honours / CTA
CA(SA)

Experience:

Completed SAICA articles (essential)
3+ years post-articles experience (financial services advantageous)
1+ year team management experience
Strong IFRS knowledge
Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks within financial services
Advanced Excel skills
Exposure to accounting systems (Sage, CaseWare advantageous)
