Our client in the Online Support Service industry is currently looking for a Financial Accountant, in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage all African entities (Nigeria, Zambia, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Mozambique, Uganda, Cameroon & Rwanda) Payment Verification: Thorough review and verification of creditors controllers’ journals before processing is done in the financial system, this includes prepayments.
  • Thorough review and verification of creditors payment packs before submission to Financial Accountant for final release submission.
  • Request bank rates on foreign currency payments and check against relevant exchange rate site. Negotiate with the bank and once an acceptable rate is received, send for approval by FM to proceed with instruction of loading by the credit controllers.
  • Daily check on banks to ensure that rejections are picked up on time and escalated to the creditor’s controllers.
  • Ensure that payment packs on Capex payments are accurately compiled (with all information and breakdowns) and sent to the relevant management accountant for amortization.
  • Intercompany invoice processing: Accurate capturing of Intercompany invoices.
  • Ensure Intercompany balances after capturing by ensuring that a statement of account is received from Intercompany.
  • Investigate and resolve where imbalance is identified.
  • Once invoice is processed and balance confirmed, send invoice to creditors controllers for payment. Follow up with bank managers to process payments.
  • Full Function Creditors and Debtors Monthly Financial Reporting Year-End Financial Reporting Budget Packs Payroll VAT & EMP Returns
  • Petty Cash Verification: Thorough review and verification of creditors controllers petty cash journals before processing is done in the financial system.
  • Check that the Petty Cash on hand and Petty Cash bank account balances and follow up on any variances.
  • Thorough review and verification of creditors controllers petty cash summary and ensure all documentation is saved in relevant folder.
  • Once in balance, ensure that Petty Cash on hand and Petty Cash bank accounts are reconciled in the financial system monthly.
  • Month End: Full Creditors Function (Uganda, Cameroon & Rwanda)
  • Review of monthly supplier list from credit controllers and accrue for all non-received invoices/costs.
  • Reach out to the business to ensure that all ad hoc invoices/costs for the month have been submitted to finance and accrue where necessary.
  • Ensure that all prepayments have been expended/allocated accurately in the financial system.
  • Reconcile monthly prepayments and accruals.
  • Ensure that all matchings are done for all entities. 
  • Maintain control account balance to zero.
  • Overseeing debit balances sitting in the vendors – move to prepayments and query with creditors controllers.
  • Assistance with Opex and Marketing reviews
  • Ad hoc Duties: Audits - Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual audit files for management review.
  • Coordinating Payments and sending them to FA for checking.
  • Weekly coordinating of Vendor Open Items Reports.
  • Supervising Creditors Controllers.
  • Matching of Intercompany.
  • Compiling of FX write off and send to FA for approval.
  • Assistance with achieving all financial information.
  • Assistance with testing of processes and procedures.
  • Assistance with projects to improve processes and procedures.

Requirements:
  • 3 year Diploma or Degree in Accounting.
  • 5-6 years’ experience.
  • Advanced level in Excel.
  • Payment Authorisation Systems (PAS)
  • Sage Pastel, Pastel Evolution.
  • Ariba, Accpac, SAP.
  • AX Dynamics, Embrace, PAS & Navision.
  • Consistent high standard and quality of work.
  • Good time management.
  • Problem solving skills are a necessity.
  • High level of organisational skills and ability to prioritize and be proactive.
  • Ability to handle and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Interest in sport would be ideal.

Remuneration:
  • R40 000 – R60 000 per month plus benefits.
