Insurance Underwriting Specialist - Excess Umbrella - Hartford, CT Seeking individual with expert knowledge of Excess Umbrella underwriting who can grow, manage, and maintain a profitable book of business with a focus on customer satisfaction and profitable underwriting. Shall: • Review applications and financial requirements to determine acceptable levels of risk in accordance with the company's guidelines and standards. • Utilize predictive modeling tools, pricing guidelines, and rating methodologies to price and accept risk based on competitive and risk analysis. • Evaluate underwriting activities, documents, and decisions to ensure company and regulatory guidelines are followed. • Analyze information on adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status, and declinations to aid in strategy planning and development. • Manage assigned portfolio to achieve premium, profitability, rate & retention, and new business goals. • Develop producer relationships to build a strong pipeline and distribution channel; develop distributor strategies, monitor performance, and adjust plans to ensure profitable growth. Requirements: • 6 years underwriting excess umbrella risks with expert knowledge of the market, ability to develop underwriting strategies, and proven success building & managing new business opportunities. • Demonstrable experience reviewing and analyzing customer operations, catastrophic potential, financials, loss-history, credit history, etc. to determine coverage limits, terms, and pricing.
