Job Description The Cash Application & AR Operations Accounting Manager leads two critical shared services functions supporting the processing, control, and accounting of billions of dollars in customer payments annually across the United States and Canada. Reporting to the Director, Cash & Receivables, this role has end-to-end leadership responsibility for Cash Application and AR Accounting, including payment exception management, financial controls, operational performance, and continuous improvement. While collections activities are managed outside of the shared services organization, this role plays a critical part in optimizing the organization's order-to-cash processes through automation, workflow technology, and operational transformation. The role executes transformation across the cash-to-accounting lifecycle by advancing intelligent matching and case management capabilities that increase cash application rates, accelerate exception resolution, reduce manual effort, enhance operational visibility, and strengthen financial controls. This leader will partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Treasury, IT, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions, standardize processes, and advance the organization's broader shared services and order-to-cash strategy. Job Responsibilities This role is approximately 70% Cash Application Operations and 30% AR Accounting. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated success leading large-scale Cash Application organizations, implementing technology solutions, improving auto-match rates, leveraging workflow and case management tools, and driving end-to-end operational transformation. Lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors, team leads, and specialists while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and customer service. Lead a high-volume Cash Application organization responsible for the timely and accurate application of customer payments across multiple business units, legal entities, and payment channels. Direct daily Cash Application operations, including payment posting, remittance processing, exception management, unapplied cash resolution, and account reconciliation activities. Execute a technology roadmap that improves automation, increases straight-through processing and auto-match rates, reduces manual effort, and enhances operational scalability. Establish operational metrics, dashboards, and KPIs to measure performance, monitor trends, identify bottlenecks, and support data-driven decision making. Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, SOX requirements, and accounting standards related to accounts receivable and cash application activities. Oversee AR accounting support activities, including account reconciliations, month-end close support, balance sheet analysis, journal entries, and reporting requirements. Collaborate with leadership to establish organizational priorities, resource plans, and operational strategies that improve service, productivity, and financial performance. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. Five or more years of progressive accounts receivable experience, including Cash Applications, AR Operations Accounting, account reconciliations, or related order-to-cash responsibilities. Three or more years of people-management experience, including responsibility for coaching, performance management, and employee development. Strong understanding of accounts receivable accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, internal controls, and order-to-cash processes. Experience supporting high-dollar, multi-entity, cross-border, or global accounts receivable operations. Experience implementing cash application automation platforms, AI-enabled matching solutions, or payment-processing technologies. Experience with workflow, ticketing, or case management platforms such as ServiceNow, Salesforce, Oracle Service Cloud, HighRadius, BlackLine, or similar solutions. Experience leading large-scale shared-services transformation initiatives preferred.
