Johnson Block & Company is looking for a skilled Payroll & Benefits Specialist to take ownership of payroll processing, benefits administration, and key HR support functions. This is a great opportunity for a professional who enjoys accuracy, consistency, and being the go-to resource for employees and leadership.

 

In this role, you will be the connection point between payroll, benefits, HR, and our external payroll provider. You will help ensure employees are paid correctly, benefits are administered smoothly, records are accurate, and compliance is maintained. What You’ll Do

  • Manage payroll processing in partnership with our external payroll provider.
  • Administer employee benefits and leave programs.
  • Serve as a primary resource for payroll and benefits questions.
  • Review payroll data, payroll tax reports, deductions, and reconciliations for accuracy.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2s and ACA reporting.
  • Oversee benefits billing and reconciliation.
  • Assist with onboarding, offboarding, and employee transition processes.
  • Maintain accurate HRIS data and prepare reports and documentation.
  • Support audits, compliance efforts, and required recordkeeping.
  • Work collaboratively with the HR Coordinator and administrative team on additional human resources support tasks as needed. 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure payroll, tax, and benefits processes remain compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support payroll audits, year-end reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Assist with open enrollment and related employee communication.
  • Maintain accurate records for ACA tracking and reporting.
  • Help document and improve payroll and benefits procedures.



Requirements

  

What We’re Looking For 

  • 2–5+ years of payroll and benefits experience.
  • Hands-on experience processing payroll and administering benefits.
  • Working knowledge of HR functions, including onboarding, offboarding, employee records, and compliance.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Experience with HRIS or payroll systems; UKG experience is a plus.
