Job Details Controller is a critical role responsible for managing all financial control and accounting activities at the plant, including general and cost accounting related responsibilities. The Plant Controller will be a key team member of the plant leadership team serving as the Plant Manager’s finance leader to provide financial analyses and recommendations to assist in achieving strategic and financial objectives. Additionally, this individual will provide proactive analysis, report out departmental key metrics, and make recommendations to drive increased productivity and efficiency. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include • Accountability and ownership of all Plant COGS spend and departmental budgets • Ensure accurate and timely closing of month end financial statements along with all supporting documentation and explanations • Ensure monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and inventory sub ledger, including review of aging, obsolescence analysis, and unvouchered accounts payable • Ensure regular review of product cost standards, including labor and overhead rates • Safeguard company assets with solid internal controls and compliance to US GAAP and corporate policies • Lead the preparation of the annual operating budget for the plant • Coordinate and lead monthly forecast process for the plant, working with Plant Manager and plant team to understand financial results and projections • Coordinate and lead monthly reporting of plant capital spending • Lead the process of tracking costs associated with strategic projects • Assist in understanding and reducing working capital • Management of manufacturing variances and ability to highlight areas of opportunity to reduce waste (usage variances, physical inventory adjustments, and labor variances) • Partner with the inventory control team and ensure adherence to the cycle count process and drive timely recording of variances • Team with operations management to identify profit improvement/cost reduction opportunities • Support Shared Services finance team • Review P&L accounts, providing critical insights on changes to budget, forecast and prior year • Lead year-end financial activities at the plant and partner with external auditors • Partner with plant leadership and operations to develop a continuous pipeline of productivity initiatives and support with financial valuations • Present and report out plant financial performance on a monthly basis • Other ad-hoc responsibilities as assigned Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree required (Accounting or Finance) • CPA or MBA preferred • Cost accounting and standard product costing experience preferred • Experience in the CPG industry (food and beverage preferred) • Experience using financial (ERP) systems, with strong understanding of GAAP • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing and process oriented • Comfortable handling large amount of data, with the ability to see the big picture to prioritize workload effectively • Exceptional communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to translate financial metrics and performance in a clear and concise manner • Strong sense of curiosity, constantly challenging the way things are done in a constructive manner and thrives on change that improves results • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross functional partners to achieve company goals and objectives.
