I am looking for a technically strong Senior Accountant who knows how to take control of a finance function, work independently and deliver accurate results in a demanding environment.
My client operates within the manufacturing sector and requires an experienced accountant who combines solid technical accounting capability with payroll exposure and the resilience to work successfully in a high-performance environment.
The position is fully remote, making self-discipline, accountability and the ability to operate independently absolutely critical.

Duties & Responsibilities

This opportunity will suit an experienced accountant who is confident in their technical ability and does not require constant supervision.
You will work within a supportive finance environment, but expectations are high. The manager has a direct, demanding management style and expects deadlines to be met, problems to be addressed proactively and responsibilities to be owned from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of the accounting function and related financial processes
Manage month-end and year-end accounting activities
Prepare and process journals
Perform balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
Prepare financial and management reports
Assist with budgeting and forecasting
Maintain accurate accounting records on Pastel Accounting
Manage and/or oversee payroll processes using Sage Payroll
Oversee creditors, debtors, cashbooks and related accounting processes
Assist with audit preparation and auditor requirements
Maintain strong financial controls and identify discrepancies
Support management with financial information and analysis
Ensure deadlines and reporting requirements are consistently achieved
Operate independently within a fully remote working environment

Job Experience and Skills Required

Completed BCom degree – essential
Diplomas will not be considered
Articles are not required
5–8 years' relevant accounting experience
Manufacturing industry experience – essential
Strong practical payroll experience – essential
Pastel Accounting – essential
Sage Payroll – essential
Strong technical accounting ability
Highly self-motivated and comfortable working independently
Resilient, assertive and able to operate effectively under pressure
Comfortable working with a direct and demanding manager
Strong ownership mentality and problem-solving ability
Deadline-driven with excellent attention to detail
