The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead the design and implementation of mission-critical platform systems, APIs, and foundational architecture. This senior role involves owning significant platform capabilities, driving architectural decisions, and establishing technical standards that enable our entire engineering organization. You'll work on transformational platform initiatives while mentoring other engineers and ensuring our technology foundation scales with business growth.

We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC office.

Responsibilities:

Platform Development:

  • Build mission-critical systems and frameworks that support scalable application development.
  • Drive architectural decisions through specifications and hands-on coding.
  • Maintain reusable frameworks that simplify development for application teams.
  • Guide AssetMark’s platform evolution with long-term architectural vision.
  • Document complex platform capabilities for clarity and alignment.
  • Deliver robust solutions for data governance, API management, and service integration.
  • Lead large-scale code improvements to enhance maintainability and efficiency.
  • Define workflows and service integration models across applications.
  • Enforce design principles, versioning strategies, and compliance standards.
  • Mentor engineers, improve development processes, and coordinate cross-team platform efforts.

Enterprise & Compliance:

  • Ensure platform architecture meets stringent security, compliance, and regulatory requirements
  • Design systems that support business growth and can scale to enterprise demands
  • Work with data governance policies and master data management principles
  • Support technology modernization initiatives and legacy system transformation
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture and security teams on strategic platform decisions

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Extensive experience coding in C#
  • Experience with API design, microservices architecture, and distributed systems
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Hands-on experience in developing Azure Cloud Computing resources such as app services, Function Apps, Logic Apps, Storage Accounts, etc.,
  • Understanding of database technologies, data modeling, and enterprise data patterns
  • Experience with message queues, event-driven architecture, and async processing
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation
  • Experience with SQL Server (DB Design, Query Optimization, Indexing) and PostgreSQL DB
  • Understanding of security best practices for enterprise platforms
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (preferably SAFe)
  • Ability to quickly grasp modern technology concepts
  • Object-oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) concepts with a deep understanding of SOLID principles
  • Understanding of Microsoft graph APIs

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with significant platform engineering focus
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale platform systems
  • Track record of leading complex technical initiatives and mentoring other engineers
  • Experience with regulated industries, preferably financial services
  • Strong background in API governance, data architecture, and enterprise integration

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $156,000-$173,000.

 

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
