Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Senior Staff Accountant role is responsible for activities and analyses supporting the preparation of month-end and year-end financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in accounting, healthcare industry preferred.
- Strong month-end close and account reconciliation skills.
- Experience reviewing staff work and managing multiple divisions simultaneously.
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP).
- Experience with Accounting software, Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred.
- Customer service mindset and ability to work in a collaborative team culture.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in the preparation and review of monthly financial statements including accruals, analysis, and applicable reports ensuring accuracy, timeliness and alignment with GAAP/FASB standards.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations and recommend adjusting entries as needed.
- Assist in developing and implementing new analysis tools and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support audit and tax filing preparation including schedules and supporting documentation.
- Provide guidance to junior staff, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with other departments to support financial research and decision-making.
- Perform ad hoc reporting and special projects as assigned.
