CAREER OPPORTUNITY OFFERING: Bonus Incentives Paid Certifications Tuition Reimbursement Comprehensive Benefits Career Advancement This position pays between $20.45 - $22.50/hr based on experience This position is an onsite role, and candidates must be able to work on-site at Tower - St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA The Financial Navigator role will be responsible for guiding patients through their financial journey during their stay at the facility and immediately post discharge. The Navigator will be assigned to a patient at the time of service and will be available up to 30 days post discharge. The Financial Navigator will serve as an onsite point person for the patient in order to reduce confusion between the patient and the separate functional areas of financial services. Key support function of the Financial Navigator will include, but are not limited to, screening self-pay patient’s bedside, completing and submitting Medicaid, Disability and Financial Assistance applications, triaging financial questions, providing patient education, performing onsite patient rounding and facilitating process improvement projects for the patient’s financial journey. Essential Job Functions: Navigator will have subject matter knowledge in the following functional areas Public Benefits Eligibility - Medicaid Screening and/or Financial Assistance Accountability for Medicaid Screening and Conversion for self-pay patients Financial Counseling – Workqueues/Worklists, POS Collections, Denial Review Financially clear each patient: Verify and/or secure coverage or complete screening for patients in-house, including Labor & Delivery, Newborn and NICU location focus, to prepare and help lead the daily and/or weekly In-House review calls Creating estimates and POS Collections Accountable for meeting productivity and department KPIs Be knowledgeable of all client specific payment models. Take a proactive approach in patient education to improve: Patient experience to improve financial performance Ensure continuity on challenging in-house cases Ability to triage patient financial questions and ensure resolution while in-house Face-to-face connection with patients throughout their care journey Real time feedback and issue resolution Escalate any financial process gaps identified Communicate and collaborate with other personnel as needed, including case management, social workers, or physician liaisons Must demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving and knowledge of all the Revenue Cycle areas and processes to be effective in the position Performs other duties as assigned Job Experience: 3 to 5 Years Education Level: Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent Experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Experience in multiple areas of the revenue cycle is preferred, including but not limited to a financial counselor role, customer service role, public benefits/Medicaid advocate/eligibility, state case/eligibility specialist or other applicable roles Prior Patient Access or Physician based experience is a plus Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation including AI to explore better processes and ways to alleviate friction and improve patient and client experiences.
