Company Profile:

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is a certified DBE/WBE firm primarily focused on providing safety services to the railroad industry. As a result of our rapid growth, we're looking for a Staff Accountant to work on-site with our Accounting team. Qualifications:

• Associates Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance with two years of related work experience.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail required; well-organized.
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Understanding of general accounting principles, accounts receivable, and accounting terms.
• Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office applications and Excel.
• Advanced computer skills in Adobe Applications.
• A self-starter who is energetic, a fast learner, and able to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently.
• Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and maintain a strict level of confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

• QuickBooks experience preferred.
• Two years of accounts receivable/payable experience/credit card reconciliation.

Job Duties:

• Responsible for all aspects of daily departmental functions including billing, commercial accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Facilitate collection of outstanding customer receivables.
• CAT Tax filing, quarterly, and annually.
• Responsible for various monthly account reconciliations (i.e., receivables/payables, or other accounts as needed). This process would include any daily or weekly processes that would lead to the overall reconciliation of the monthly activity.
• Timesheet review and entry of billable hours for all employees.
• Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
• Continuously review current processes and systems for compliance and efficiencies.
• Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring integrity and compliance.
• Assist the Controller in the month end, quarter end and year end closing processes.
• Performs other duties that are reasonably associated with the above essential functions and additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an office setting. Working remotely is not an option with this position. Work hours will be Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with flexibility to meet tight deadlines.
