Your impact:

As Director Internal Audit, you play a critical role in strengthening financial governance and internal control across the organisation in a complex, operational environment. You lead independent assurance activities with a strong focus on financial integrity, control effectiveness and transparency towards the Board and key stakeholders. You combine strong analytical depth with curiosity, integrity and the credibility to engage effectively with senior leadership, board members and external auditors.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Further refine and drive execution of the Internal Audit strategy, ensuring strong focus on financial processes, internal controls and governance.
  • Assessing the effectiveness of finance processes, control frameworks and risk management across the organisation.
  • Providing independent assurance to the Board and maintaining close interaction with key stakeholders including the external auditor.
  • Identifying control gaps, financial risks and opportunities to strengthen governance and performance.
  • Translating complex audit findings into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Monitoring remediation actions and ensuring sustainable control improvements.
  • Leading and further professionalising the Internal Audit function and audit methodology.

Who you are:

You are an experienced audit leader with deep expertise in finance processes, internal controls and governance. You combine analytical strength with curiosity and the ability to ask the right questions in complex environments.
At the same time, you are highly credible at senior level and communicate with clarity and confidence with executives, board members and external stakeholders.


You bring:

You are an expert in understanding financial processes and control environments, and you know how to translate complexity into clear insights for leadership and governance bodies:

  • Strong expertise in analysing financial processes, internal controls and governance frameworks.
  • Natural curiosity and the ability to quickly understand complex organisations and business processes.
  • A high level of integrity, independence and sound professional judgement.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
  • Credibility and effectiveness in interacting with senior executives, board members and external auditors.
  • A structured, analytical mindset combined with strong stakeholder management.
  • Fluency in English and Dutch
  • Willingness to travel within Belgium and the Netherlands and occasionally to France or Portugal
