Life in the fast lane
As our Financial Accountant, you will be joining the Finance team who make up part of the Business Services Department.
This is a permanent position, based at our Head Office in St Kilda.
Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely financial information to internal and external stakeholders to support strategic decision-making and ensure regulatory compliance. The role is required to support the maintenance and ongoing maturity uplift of the organisations financial integrity while leveraging the latest tools to drive efficiency and provide insights that shape the AGPC’s future.
Additionally, you will:
- Be responsible for the accuracy and preparation of financial statements, contributing to statutory compliance, and managing the AGPC general ledger.
- Complete asset accounting activities, including reconciling WIP and support finance business partners with multi-year capital expenditure planning.
- Provide financial advice, including general ledger coding across P&L and balance sheet, application of policies, and internal control & accounting standard requirements.
- Prepare annual report / end of financial year supporting schedules.
- Complete statutory and tax requirements including BAS and FBT.
- Preparation of government reporting
- Support the Financial Controller with payroll, cash flow forecasting, and identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
- Contribute to internal and external audit requirements.
What you'll bring to the role:
- A demonstrated involvement and success in contributing to continuous improvement programs and initiatives in the areas of operational financial accounting.
- A relevant degree majoring in Accounting or equivalent is mandatory.
- Professional qualifications (CPA or CA) are highly desirable.
- Experience within Victorian State Government, major projects and / or event management delivery desirable.
- A current Police Check and Victorian Working with Children Check (Employee), or be willing to obtain.
