The Hutchins School is seeking a warm, organised and professional Receptionist / Finance Assistant to join our team at the Senior School campus.

As the welcoming face and voice of the School, this role plays a vital part in creating a positive first impression for students, families, staff and visitors. Alongside reception duties, the position also provides valuable support to the Finance team, assisting with daily financial administration and ensuring the smooth operation of Senior School Reception.

About the Role

This role will support both reception operations and the finance team.

Key responsibilities include

Reception

  • Providing a warm, professional welcome to students, parents, staff and visitors
  • Answering and directing incoming phone calls
  • Managing the visitor sign-in system and issuing visitor identification
  • Assisting with student absentee records
  • Receiving and distributing deliveries and mail
  • Supporting student wellbeing by providing first aid assistance when required

Finance & Administration

  • Processing over-the-counter and telephone payments
  • Managing petty cash and floats
  • Daily bank statement processing and reconciliation
  • Supporting staff with credit card expense submission processes
  • Providing backup support to Accounts Payable during leave periods
  • Managing stationery orders and office supplies
  • Assisting with facility hire administration
  • Maintaining organised reception and staffroom spaces

 

About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to multitask and prioritise in a busy environment
  • Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Experience in a busy reception or administration environment and a first aid qualification are highly desirable.
