Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for full cycle accounting operations, with a strong emphasis on manufacturing cost accounting. This role is key to maintaining financial accuracy and supporting strategic decision-making for our manufacturing and business operations. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of relevant experience and a proven track record in both general accounting and inventory/cost management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of full cycle accounting, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, month-end close, and bank reconciliations
- Manage and analyze manufacturing cost accounting, including bill of materials, work-in-progress (WIP), labor, and overhead allocations
- Prepare and maintain financial statements, internal reports, and supporting documentation
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Collaborate with operations and inventory teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation and cost tracking
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies
- Assist in external audit preparation and support
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and financial reporting accuracy
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory valuation methods
- Experience with QuickBooks required
- Experience with Fishbowl Inventory software highly desired
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large data sets
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively across departments
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus, but not required
