JOB DESCRIPTION

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

SUMMARY: 

 

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for various tasks including month-end closing, general ledger reconciliations, management reporting, preparation of financial statements and special projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
  • Provide technical accounting support.
  • Assist with month end close, including maintenance and monitoring of monthly CECL.
  • Analyze and resolve account discrepancies or misclassifications.
  • Analyze business and financial data and prepare monthly financial reports.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset subledger and Prepaids along with their respective depreciation and amortization.
  • Use analytical skill to create financial models to assist in supporting organizational decision making.
  • Recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue.
  • Coordinate and assist with audit preparation.
  • Prepare month-end reports.
  • Develop automatic reporting and forecasting tools for more efficient use of data.
  • Assist in annual budget preparation and make recommendations for changes.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable and Receivable.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. Must possess strong technical and motivational skills along with excellent communication skills.
  • 5-8 years working in a financial institution preferably in a Credit Union setting.

  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and use of analytical related formulas.
  • Ability to prioritize, pay close attention to detail, and coordinate various activities simultaneously.
