Job Description

 

General

This job description is intended primarily as an illustration of the type of work to be performed by the Vice President of Finance (VP). The VP is a member of the Executive Team and reports directly to the President/CEO. The VP’s team is primarily charged with maintaining the organization’s financial records in accordance with GAAP, cash management, budgeting, managing payroll and benefits, and enforcing the organization’s standards and policies. Assists as needed with the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Finance & Audit Committee, Compensation Committee, employees, and volunteer leaders. The VP participates as needed in the day-to-day financial and administrative demands of the Orlando Economic Partnership.

 

The omission of specific duties does not exclude them if they are similar, related, or logical assignments in support of the mission. OEP employees may occasionally be called upon to provide their unique talents and abilities to solve specific problems or to address specific questions outside their job description. These may be related either to their team’s mission or to support an organizational goal. As such, they may be asked to participate in a variety of ad-hoc assignments and are expected to be flexible in their work practice and supportive of other team members.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Manages procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.

 

  • Analyzes Partnership’s financial information; prepares monthly financial statements and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.

 

  • Supervises treasury management functions.

 

  • Produces ad-hoc financial reports as needed.

 

  • Implement processes, procedures and reporting to help the business understand, analyze, and meet the requirements of a rapidly changing regulatory environment.

  • Enforces OEP chart of accounts, policies and procedures driving continuous improvement of the control environment within the process.

 

  • Manages the annual budget process.

 

  • Assists the executive team in understanding their budget variance reports.

 

  • Maintains banking relationships and serves as the primary contact with banks.

 

 

  • Maintains relationships with legal counsel and is responsible for coordinating the annual audits and tax filings as well as the Finance Committee review of the same.

 

  • Maintain all regulatory filings (local, state, and federal).

 

  • Maintains budgeting and reimbursement process with federal grants.

 

  • Maintains adequate insurance for the corporation as well as other risk management functions.

 

 

 

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required; Graduate degree (MBA, MSA or MPA) and / or professional certification preferred (CPA or CMA).

 

  • 5-10 years of experience in leadership roles with a tax-exempt organization (501c6 membership association preferred).

 

  • Knowledge of writing internal accounting policies and manager master data and chart of accounts.

 

  • Experience with change initiatives and participation thereof

 

  • Initiative-taking and able to work with little supervision.

 

  • Accurate & meticulous with outstanding problem-solving ability.

 

  • The ability to prioritize a heavy workload, produce error free work, and meet deadlines.

 

  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Dynamics GP).

 

  • Good verbal and written communications skills must be able to communicate effectively with board members, colleagues, and management.
